Caribbean Adventures A Family Guide to Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel

Crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and unforgettable family adventures without breaking the bank? Join me on a journey through three Caribbean gems: Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. Perfect for families and thrill-seekers alike, these destinations offer a perfect blend of budget-friendly options, mouthwatering cuisine, heart-pumping activities, and rich cultural experiences. Let's dive in!

Roatan: Honduras' Island Paradise

Friendly Tips

Roatan, the largest of Honduras' Bay Islands, is a traveler's dream. Stay in West End for affordable accommodations and easy beach access. Local tip: try the underwater scooter "The Boss", such a unique experience where you are essentially driving a scooter underwater!

Adventure Awaits

Roatan's coral reefs are a snorkeler's paradise. Rent gear from local shops and explore the vibrant underwater world right off the beach. For a truly unforgettable experience, book a dolphin encounter at Anthony's Key Resort – it's an investment your family will cherish forever.

Cultural Immersion

This is my second time visiting the island and there is a unique local Afro-Caribbean culture happening on the island. Enjoy the music, the food, and try and hand with the locals with some dance moves!

Belize: Where Jungle Meets Reef

Taste of Belize

Belize has a long way to go, I've been to the country several times. Despite the beauty of this country, it still continues to struggle with its overall development. Having said that, the cuisine is incredible with local rice and beans, fry jacks and fresh fruits. Belize is surrounded by passionate and kind locals that welcome your travel. I just hope that the travel industry investments are utilized to further elevate this country, it is a specifical place.

Preserved Mayan Ruins

One of the things I've enjoyed throughout central America is exploring the ancient Mayan Ruins. One this trip I had the unique opportunity to explore Altun Ha, a major Maya culture ceremonial center and discovery of the famous Jade Head. Altun Ha was a central trading link between the Caribbean coast and Maya centers during the classic period.

Cozumel: Mexico's Island Gem

Cozumel's Town - San Miguel

I was thoroughly impressed with Cozumel, in particular when you think of the countries further south. This area has really developed in to a gem of a travel spot. I've been to Mexico several times but this is the first to San Miguel. We had the chance to explore the cenotes that were formulated by the collapse of limestone bedrock. Fresh water, bat caves, zip lines to drop into the pools, a perfect family experience.

Overall, if you're planning a trip with your extended family, consider a cruise with some stop along the way. A great way to keep everyone entertained, engaged, and experience some amazing family memories together.
